E Challan Gujarat: Check Status & Pay Your Challan Online
The e-challan system in Gujarat is a digital initiative to simplify the process of handling traffic violations across the state. Managed by the Gujarat Traffic Police, this system replaces physical challans, enabling citizens to check and pay fines online quickly and securely. By making the process digital, Gujarat has improved transparency, reduced paperwork, and increased efficiency in traffic management.
What is an e-Challan?
An e-challan is a digital traffic fine issued by traffic authorities for violating traffic rules such as overspeeding, red light jumping, or driving without valid documents. The e-challan system is backed by the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and has been operational nationwide since 2016 as a government initiative to promote digital compliance and road safety.
These challans are generated using CCTV footage, automated surveillance, or patrol officers and are sent to the vehicle owner via SMS or email using the VAHAN database
